Architectural Process

  • Site and Site Plan Analysis
  • Initial consultation with the client to understand their requirements
  • Reviewing local regulations and zoning requirements to plan the site
  • Developing an architectural scheme plan
  • Creating 3D half layout plans to visualize the design
  • Presenting architectural views (elevation) to the client for approval
  • Obtaining necessary approvals and following the required procedures
  • Creating structural drawings
  • Preparing working drawings for construction
  • Developing electrical and plumbing drawings for the project
  • Providing interior architectural views to the client.

Stages of Architectural Design Process

1 – PRE-DESIGN (PD)

This stage involves meeting with the client to determine the project's scope, purpose, and functionality. It also includes an existing conditions survey, compiling existing drawings, and a statement of probable construction costs.

  • Client consultation

  • Prepare high-level base drawings
  • Statement of probable build/construction cost
  • Programming space and use

At the end of this stage, the owner decides whether to proceed with the project.

2 – SCHEMATIC DESIGN (SD)

During this stage, the design team creates rough sketches and drawings to illustrate the project's essential ideas. They also conduct an initial analysis of local compliance and rules. Deliverables at the end of this stage include floor plans, building elevations, a building cross-section, and a typical wall section.

At the end of this part, we deliver:

  • Floor plans of all levels with generic openings and plumbing fixtures
  • Exterior building elevations with representative openings and finishes
  • Building cross-section
  • Typical wall section

And we move to the next phase with the owner’s approval.

3 – DESIGN DEVELOPMENT (DD)

In this stage, the design team finalizes the planning and specifies details like materials, window and door locations, and structural details. Deliverables at the end of this stage include detailed floor plans and elevations, building and wall sections, and additional details to establish a basis for design products.

  • Floor plans with a proposed basis of design openings and plumbing fixtures

  • Structural grid dimensions
  • Interior wall dimensions
  • Exterior elevations with a proposed basis of design openings and finishes

Now we have given shape to project ’s vision through drawings and written specifications.

4 – CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS (CD)

With a final design in place, the design team can prepare construction drawings, notes, and technical specifications. These documents are used for bidding, construction, and permit applications. Deliverables in this stage include fully annotated floor plans and elevations, wall and window identification, and detailed notes for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and structural plans.

5 – CONSTRUCTION

Finally, the construction is underway.

During the final stage, construction begins. The design team will work with the owner to discuss any necessary changes, ensuring that they align with the project's vision. At the end of this stage, the project is ready for use/occupancy.
